Veterans Memorial Park City of Monterey

Larry has been craving a waffle but we don’t carry a waffle iron with us when we’re camping so I made pancakes for breakfast. The drive to our next destination was the coast highway which provided fantastic views of the ocean. We drove over a couple cool bridges and through a tunnel. We were going to stop at a National Forest and stay at one of its campgrounds but they both were full. We drove through one of them but we were early so the campers that were going to leave hadn’t left yet. We decided to continue down the coastline to Monterey. When we arrived in Monterey we parked in the wharf for an hour. We had lunch and than we took Flo for a walk around the wharf. While walking we saw people diving, sailing, swimming, kayaking, seals and a huge sea otter. We had a wonderful walk.

We spent the night at beautiful Veterans Memorial Park. It had bathrooms with showers, play area and camping sites. The sites didn’t have any hook ups but there was water available. The park was busy with families enjoying a glorious Sunday afternoon. One family was celebrating a birthday and had a blow up playhouse. While Larry was barbecuing dinner I took Flo for a walk around the park. The park was very well taken care of and had a lot of trees. It was a nice park to camp at.
