3-31 Hello Arizona

As we were leaving Apache National Forest we saw a herd of elk grazing on the side of the road, this was the first time we saw elk in New Mexico. It was a good looking herd. During our 235 mile drive to Globe Arizona we saw Sunrise Peak where Sunrise Snow Park is. It looked like there was still enough snow to be open. When we drove through Show Low we were surprised how much its grown and how it was wall to wall stores. Larry drove through the Salt River Canyon, it was a long slow curving drive but had magnificent vistas of the canyon.

Apache Casino and Resort

Apache Casino and Resort

We spent the night at Apache Gold Casino and Resort on the San Carlos Apache Tribe Reservation where I did a bit of gambling. The casino is small with 600 slots. It has a hotel and a RV park with full hook-ups, showers and cost $26 a night. I’m not sure why I enjoy gambling but it’s a way to entertain me for hours. Larry gives me money to gamble with and I play the penny slots so I don’t lose too much.
