12-10 Dog Ramp for Flo

Winter is almost here
For the last three days we have woke up to very cold mornings with temperatures in the low 30's, at least today the wind wasn't blowing and it got into the 50's.

Shopping
This morning Larry finished doing our Christmas cards so we loaded Flo into the car and went to town. Larry had read in the paper that a downtown warehouse had been converted to retail space with different shops located within the building, it is called The Hub. He didn't remember the address but since we were already downtown and the downtown is not really that large we simply drove around for a bit until we found it. Larry and I walked through, there are two floors, most of the wares were different types of art but there was also a bit of clothing and handbags. We didn't buy anything. As we were going back to the car we decided to walk across the street and walk through a shop that sold antiques and other knickknacks. We didn't find anything we wanted. The last stop in downtown Temple was at The Goodwill Store. In a couple of weeks we are headed to the Rio Grande Valley to go square dancing, we plan to be there about a month so I wanted a few more long skirts, we found four skirts and three blouses for me and a shirt for Larry.

Lunch at Taco Bell
On the way home we stopped by Taco Bell to have lunch. A couple days ago we had stopped by and they were concentrating on moving people through the drive thru and didn't even acknowledge we were there. I had to ask for assistance and they still ignored us so we gave up and left. Today we went inside and once again and we were ignored, Larry had to whistle to get their attention. The lady at the drive thru acknowledged us and it still took a few minutes for her to come over and wait on us. Not sure what is going on, maybe their performance is being measured by how long folks are waiting in the drive through or maybe they are simply short on help. Larry and I split a Nachos Bell Grande and we both had a caramel apple empanada. The empanada was a deep fried apple pie with caramel, it was very good.

Larry building the brackets for the ramp
When we got home Larry started on Flo's ramp, I helped him when I was needed. The first thing he did was setup his table saw. Then I helped him cut a couple pieces of plywood and a 1x4 down to the size we wanted. Larry also used his circular saw on the wood. The next step was making brackets to give the ramp strength. He made the brackets out of some aluminum brackets he had used for another project. He cut the brackets down close to the size he wanted with his jig saw and then he used his mill to machine them to the final size. Next he filed down the sharp edges and corners. He got to a point where he could stop and then he called it a day on the project.

Watching television
Dinner is served
I barbecued some HEB Bacon, Cheddar Cheese and Jalapeno Poppers for dinner. In the evening we watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and our RV YouTube videos. I baked Betty Crocker Hershey s'mores dessert bar to take with us tomorrow when we go to A2 lessons with the TIPS Club. Then I played computer games until it was time to go to bed.
