Sunday 12-13 Relaxing Day

Relaxing Day

It was a cold damp day. It started out with a little drizzle in the 50's. By 11:00 a front came in with rain and wind. The rain didn't last long but the wind was out of the north. At dinnertime the temperature had dropped to the mid 40's, at the house 47. We stayed indoors and kept warm.

I started the day out by playing my Solitaire games. The Daily Challenges and the Event: Klondike Mini of 5 games. It took me 11 minutes and 48 seconds, which put me in 38th place in my group. I did a few Star Club games. I also played Mahjong about 10 games.

While I did my games Larry finished his last Christmas card, this one was different than all the others and it took some time to get the design the way he wanted. After that he worked on straightening up his workroom.

We attended two virtual square dances. The first was Dixie Cups bi-monthly Plus DBD at 1:30 for an hour and a half. This week the club had Doren McBroom and Gary Felton calling. We had 22 participants. We had fun.

The second was Loren Smith weekly A2/C1 dance at 7:30 for an hour and fifteen minutes. Loren called 3 A2 tips. The second tip was some four couple moves. The third tip was full square material. Loren did a C1 learn tip, where he worked on Scatter Scoot, Scatter Scoot Chain Thru and Check Over. Then Loren called two C1 tips. During the A2 and C1 learn tips we had 30 participates and C1 tips we had 23 participates. We had a wonderful evening of dancing.

Saturday 12-12 Christmas Cards

It's Christmas time

Christmas is 13 days away are you ready?

Today was a chilly day with the high temperature barely in the 50's. We stayed around the house and kept warm.

Larry spent the day writing our yearly Christmas letter and getting the Christmas cards ready to be mailed out. I wrapped the out of state gifts and boxed them up. Now we just need to mail the cards and gifts out Monday.

While Larry worked on the Christmas cards I played my Solitaire games. I did the Daily Challenges and the Event: Two Game Tango Mini of 10 games (5 Klondike and 5 Tri Peaks). It took me 30 minutes and 28 seconds to complete, which put me in 18th place in my group. I did some Sudoku games. I played Mahjong games.

In the evening we watched YouTube videos and a couple of episodes of Warehouse 13. Then I watched Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears on Acorn. Then I watched Karate Kid. I ended up doing 29,000 steps, which put me in 5th place in my group with 163,284 steps.

Friday 12-11 Nasty Damp Day

We had a damp nasty dreary day. It sprinkled on and off all morning but by the afternoon the rain was gone. It didn't get out of the 60's, at the house it was 66 degrees.

We started the day out by going to town to do a couple of errands. The first stop was The UPS Store to pick up our mail. Then we went next door to Walmart and finished our Christmas shopping.

We've had the same inexpensive set of silverware for over 40 years, it's very thin and Larry wanted to buy a new set, that is thicker. While we were in Walmart we found a 20 piece set, that felt perfect. When we got home I washed the set and we used it for dinner. Much nicer than our old set.

Even though it was nasty all day it didn't stop wildlife from visiting. We had gone camping for a few days so we didn't have much activity yesterday but the birds and squirrels came back today. We had two squirrels on the porch for awhile. They started out one at a time but there were two bowls so they decided to enjoy their meal together. We also had a couple of squirrels under the oak tree eating. Larry saw a couple of small squirrels running around the yard. We also had a young buck walk through the yard. In the evening we had a few more deer visiting. What a relaxing activity to pass the time away.

I did my Daily Challenges and the Event: Free Cell Mini of 10 games. It took me 1 hour, 8 minutes and 28 seconds, which put me in 19th place in my group. I played a few games of Mahjong.

We attended two virtual dances. The first was Di Green's weekly C1 Workshop at 2:00 for an hour and a half. Today, Di worked on Percolate, Anything The Windmill, Relay The Top and Swing the Fractions. We had 50 participates. It was a very pleasant afternoon.

The second one was Ett McAtee's weekly A2/C1 Dance at 6:30 for an hour and a half. Ett called 5 tips of A2 with 26 participates and 1 tip of C1 with 25 participates. During the third tip of A2 Ett workshopped Chain Reaction from different positions. We had a great time.

After the last dance we watched two episodes of Warehouse 13. I finished the third season of Miss Fisher. I ended up doing 24,000 steps, which put me in 3rd place in my group with 134,279 steps

Thursday 12-10 Minnie Inspecton and Back Home

We had a terrific Thursday with a high temperature of 74. It was very windy.

Larry wanted to get the Minnie inspected on the way home so before we left the campground he did a quick inspection of the lights and wiper blades, two of the overhead clearance lights were not working so he had to climb up on the roof, he removed the covers and wiggled the bulb around to clean the connection a bit and they came back on. They are a poor design and every year he has to get a couple of them to work.

We stopped at the Valvoline oil change place, we were in and out in just a few minutes. We didn't even have to get out, they had Larry turn on the lights, turn signals and step on the brake to check the brake lights.

We were home at 9:30. We unloaded the Minnie and put things away. Larry setup the computer and we were back in business at home.

I did my Solitaire games. The Daily Challenges and the Event: Two Games Tango Mini of 6 games (3 Klondike and 3 Spider). It took me 17 minutes and 13 seconds, which put me in 13th place in my group. I played a few Star Club games. I did some Sudoku games.

Larry worked on making a few more Christmas cards.

In the evening we watched some YouTube videos and a couple episodes of Warehouse 13. Then I started watching the third season of Miss Fisher. I ended up doing 28,000 steps, which put me in 3rd place in my group with 110,160 steps.

Wednesday 12-9 Playing Microsoft Mahjong

A beautiful day at Midway Park

We had another beautiful day with the temperature in the mid 70's.

We spent the day hanging around the campsite. We walked around the campground a couple of times. Both times Larry walked for fifteen minutes and then I continued on my own. The first time was for an hour and the second times was for a half hour. While I walked around Larry enjoyed the sunshine outside in his chair and read. Over the last three days Larry read three books off his Kindle. I didn't do any reading. For dinner Larry barbecued pork patties.

This week the campground is not busy, it might be 20% full. Of course come the weekend it will be full. We are camped at the end of a loop, there are no campsites directly behind or to the one side of us, the closest camper is probably four sites away.

A beautiful fall day

In between the walks I played Solitaire games. I did the Daily Challenges and the Event: Solitaire World Tour of 30 games. It took me 1 hour, 37 minutes and 35 seconds, which put me in 9th place in my group. I did some of the Star Club games. I have been thinking about downloading the Microsoft Mahjong, just to change my game playing up a bit. I use to play Mahjong many years ago and had fun. I downloaded it this afternoon and have been playing it. It didn't take long for me to relearn how to play. I had fun.

I ended up doing 27,500 steps, which put me in fourth place in my group with 82,092. We had an awesome day at Midway Park.

Tuesday 12-8 Gorgous Day

We had a gorgeous day. The day stated out in the high 30's and reached a high of 74 degrees with sunshine.

When I got up at 8:00 it was a little nippy so I decided to make biscuits for breakfast, that way the oven would heat up the Minnie. There's no hiking at Midway so we hung around the Minnie. Larry read and I did my Solitaire games. I did the Daily Challenges and the Event Easy Street of 15 games. It took me 27 minutes and 26 seconds, which put me in 14th place in my group. I also played some Sudoku games

The batteries in my Garmin Vivofit fitness tracker were getting low, it just happens to use the same batteries as the tire pressure monitors for the Minnie so Larry had some with us. He was able to take it apart and change them out. One of the things I love about this fitness tracker is I don't have to charge it up all the time, the batteries normally last over a year but I don't think they lasted that long this time.

We walked around the campground a couple of times together. I walked a couple more times for 45 minutes. The second time I took pictures of the campground. One of the host's site was decorated for the Holidays. The walks were very nice.

I ended up doing 27,000 steps, which put me in first place in my group with 54,558 steps.

Monday 12-7 Camping at Lake Waco Midway Park

 Let's go camping

Today was a beautiful cool day with bright sunshine. Simply lovely.

We headed out on our camping trip about 12:30. Midway Park on Lake Waco is only about 44 miles from the house.

 Camping at Midway Park

Lake Waco is run by the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District. It's a small lake. There are four parks and eight boat ramps. Midway is one of the four parks on Lake Waco. It's a has 33 RV sites with power and water. Ten of the sites have sewer, five of the full hookup sites has 50 amps. There are five tent sites. The park has one restroom with showers, a playground (closed due to Covid-19) and a boat ramp. Each site has a paved pad for your RV, a picnic table, fire ring, grill and a lot of trees. There are hiking trails so near that you can see them but unfortunately they are on the other side of the cove and there is no way to get to them without driving a couple of miles. The park is very nice and the sites are roomy.

After setting up the Minnie we walked around the campground. We did a little exploring hoping that maybe we could get to the hiking trail on foot. We climbed through trees and came across a trail, that looked like a hiking trail so we followed it. Along the way we saw some religious trail signage. We followed the signs and found a place for people to sit and reflect on their feelings. A little later we came to where an old road ended at a cove of Lake Waco. On the other side was the hiking trails but you couldn't cross the creek. We turned around and headed the other direction and came across St. Francis Church, where the trails began. The trails were called St. Francis Prayer Trails. There was a giant oak tree and a statue of St. Francis under it. It was a beautiful well maintained area. We turned around and went back to the campground. We walked around for 40 minutes.

We spent the rest of day reading and relaxing. I also did my Solitaire games. The Daily Challenges and Event: Hard Road Mini of 10 games. It took me 1 hour, 25 minutes and 12 seconds to complete, which put me in 14th place in my group.

For dinner we had tacos. After dinner I walked around the campground for 45 minutes to get some of my steps in. I ended up doing 27,500 steps, which put me in 3rd place in my group.
