Wednesday 10-3 Platte Campground

Camping in Platte Campground

We woke up to damp dreary day. The forecast was for rain on and off all day so we hung around the Minnie. In between the rain we were able to get out and walk around the campground, ended up walking about 6 miles. This is a large campground, it has four loops for rvs, one loop for walk in tent sites and one loop for group camping. Three of the loops for rvs have power and one does not. The sites for rvs are very roomy and are surrounded by trees. All the sites are very nice, the roads and parking pads are paved, each one also has a picnic table and fire ring. We're right next to the bathroom, it is newly rebuilt and excellent.

The weather today started off cold with wind and rain so we ran a small heater. In the afternoon the sun tried to come out a couple of times and it warmed up enough we didn't need jackets. By the evening when we got back from our walk we we using the air conditioner and a fan to keep cool. Around 9:00 the wind came up very strong and was knocking branches down on the roof of the Minnie. An hour later the power went out and has remained out. Good thing the battery in the laptop works well. We spent the day reading.
