Sunday 3-23-2 Spring Trip Begins

Spring Trip begins

I woke up at 7:30 and got dressed. When I went to the kitchen Larry had already made pancakes for breakfast.

After breakfast I finished loading the Minnie. Larry loaded the electronics, phones, tablet, computer and cables for the electronics. I did the dishes and put them away and cleaned the sinks. Yesterday, Larry cleaned the drains in the bathrooms and I did the kitchen sink drains. We were on the road by 9:30 am.

Before leaving Larry turned off the water going to the house, turned off the bidets, closed the blinds and left a light on. I turned off the ice maker. We're going to be gone for about six weeks. Our neighbor behind us told us he would keep an eye on the house while we were gone. Thank you, Chris.

Spring has sprung. Spring has come to Central Texas early. The live oaks have been shedding their old leaves and replacing them with new ones. They have been doing this for a couple of weeks. The neighbors are mowing just to get rid of the leaves. While driving around this week and to our first destination we saw that the bluebonnets are starting to bloom. The grass is starting to green.

As we were driving we noticed the grass on the side of the highway was getting greener the closer we got to the destination. Loyd Park is located in Grand Prairie, Texas, which is close to the Dallas area.

Loyd Park Campground

Our first campground is Loyd Park at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie, Texas. The park is 140 miles from the house and mainly interstate. We're going to stay here two nights. We stayed here last fall for two nights. There's no hiking trails but the campground is huge so I can walk to get some steps. It's a beautiful park. We stayed in the same site (124) as last fall, it's close to the restroom with showers.

The lady at the entrance gate was very nice. She asked if we were going to leave the campground. Larry told her we were going to leave tomorrow for a few hours. The reason for the question was they have a day use fee of $20 per vehicle per day but if you're a senior like us it's only $5. If we weren't leaving she was only going to charge us $5 because we weren't leaving. Larry made reservation for the site online so we had no problem getting the site. He paid the lady $10 in cash for the two days were here.

We had no problem finding our site because it was the same site we had in the fall. We setup the Minnie for our stay. It was warm so we had to turn on the air conditioner. It was 12:30 we had a Taylor Farms Pasta Salad for lunch. Then we relaxed.

I napped on the way to Loyd Park. Once there I played computer games. I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong before I went to bed. Today the event was Event: Klondike Mini of 5 games. It took me 14 minutes and 50 seconds, which put me in 33rd place in my group. Then I played Angry Birds.

Larry started and finished his first spring trip book. He said it was a good book.

Reading is fun

For dinner I made enchiladas. After dinner I walked around the campground for an hour and fifteen minutes (3.33 miles). I rested for a little bit. Then I walked around our loop for 45 minutes (2 miles). I ended up doing 18,000 steps, which put me in 6th place in my group for the week with 126,500 steps for the week.
