When we were at Schertz Randy Dougherty mentioned that he was going to call an A dance in Marble Falls at Sharon and Gary's house on Tuesday. He told Larry they needed another couple to fill out a square and he should e-mail Sharon. Yesterday he got hold of her and she was thrilled, she invited us to come early and she would serve us lunch and take us for a ride on her new pontoon boat. She also said that Randy would be there.
This morning before starting our adventure to Marble Falls I baked some Butterscotch Crispy Cookies. While the cookies were baking I went outside and helped Larry bag the oak tree stuff. When the cookies were done I went outside to water the flowers I planted. I was pleasantly surprised, the flowers were starting to grow. It's amazing I had just planted them a week ago. I was so excited I had Larry go outside and check it out. Both the Wildflower Blend and the Pollinator Blend flowers were growing. Now, I'll have to get the fencing to protect the flowers from the deer.

Marble Falls is 87 miles from the house and we were expected between 11:30 and 12:00 so we left at 9:45. It took us a little over an hour and a half to get there. The drive was very pleasant and we saw a lot of wildflowers. We visited with Sharon, Gary and Randy for a bit before lunch. Sharon served us stuffed mushrooms for a snack. She had gotten an air fryer and made the mushrooms in it, they came out delicious. I had a few, Larry doesn't like mushrooms so he passed on them. When it was time for lunch Sharon served us salad and baked potatoes. We built our on salads, she had bacon bits, cranberries, cheese, almonds, chicken and salad dressing. The potatoes were huge so two people shared a potato. We topped the potato with sour cream, bacon bits, butter and cheese. The meal was very good. After lunch we went for a boat ride around Lake Marble Falls. Sharon and Gary have been cleaning up from a flood in October. They wanted to show us the damage that was done. Sharon and Gary lost a couple of boats, jet skis and other stuff. The storage area under their house had about eighteen inches of mud in it and they lost a lot of stuff in that area. They were lucky the water didn't get in their home but it did get into their daughter's home, which is right next door. Other people lost everything and are starting to rebuild their homes. All the boat ramps are closed so there were no boats on the lake except for people that had replaced their boats and have them on their docks. It was very sad to see the damage that was done.

Around 6:30, their club members showed up for the dance. We had two squares and an extra couple. We knew all but one of the folks. Bill Haynes even showed up, which was a big surprise to Randy. In fact Randy lost $1.00 on a bet with Sharon about Bill being there. We had a lot of snacks: cherry pie, brownies, my cookies, crackers and a cheese spread, chips and a dip and water melon. We started upstairs in the game room but the air conditioner wasn't working so we moved downstairs. We had a great evening laughing and dancing with friends.
