Wednesday 12-10-25 Dance Day, Electronic Project & Games

Hold on tight

We had a cold windy day. The morning temperature was 43 degrees and the high of 68 degrees. The wind was out of the north, which kept it cold.

I attended three virtual square dances. First was Di Green and Terry McCann's Weekly Plus at 10:00 am for an hour. Di called four tips and Terry called one tip, which was the second tip. They called to 11 participants. I was grateful Di cued some moves because I lost my phantoms. I had a super time dancing with friends.

Second was Ett McAtee's Weekly C1 at 1:00 pm for an hour. She called five tips to 14 participants. She had a new dancer to zoom out of California so she wasn't as complex as she usually is. She told the dancers what formation they were in but didn't cue. I had fun dancing with friends.

Third was Dave Eno' Weekly C1/A2 at 6:00 pm for an hour and a half. Karin Rabe and Greg Moore helped call the dance. Dave Hutchinson showed up because he was snowed in. He started this dance with Dave over five years ago. He didn't call but it was nice to see him. The format was three tips of C1 to 8 participants, three tips of A2 to 10 participants and two Trivia questions in between the A2 tips. I had an enjoyable evening dancing to Dave, Karin and Greg and with friends.

I love square dancing

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event was Event: The Hard Road of 16 games. It took me 1 hour, 41 minutes and 26 seconds, which put me in 8th place in my group. I played Angry Birds Friends and Angry Bird 2.

I played four games of pinball, which were Elvira Scared Stiff, Metallica, Phantom of the Opera and The Addams Family. While playing Metallica I became high score #2. I had a fun time.

Larry continued working with Home Assistant.

To use the new Thread/Matter switches Larry ordered a new Alexa Echo Hub that has a built in Thread/Matter hub built in. He received it before my last dance. He had received an e-mail, saying he could get a head start by configuring some of the settings before it arrived. He had done this so it didn't take long to configure the device.

There is a new Alexa + service available, Larry has not updated to it due to quite a number of negative comments. He decided he would give it a try, unfortunately all of your devices get the update, he was hoping we could only update one or two of our devices. After updating Alexa is more chatty, you can select different voices for each device and you can change the speed of the voice. You can even have a conversation with Alexa. It's very cool. One downside we discovered is that on our Echo Show 5 devices the clock is now small and in the bottom left corner, it use to have a large clock that took up a good part of the screen. Since the Echo Show 5 is normally used as a bedroom clock most people prefer the large clock, it makes it easy to see at night even without glasses. There are lots of complaints about this change.

A few days ago I wrote I finished my jigsaw puzzle, which was Kodacolor Puzzle and I was missing a couple of pieces. I'm very excited to announce, that we found them. Larry found one of the pieces last night on the floor of the bedroom. We figured the piece was stuck on the blanket we use during the night while watching television. The other one I found under Larry's Lazy-boy chair. I'm not surprised that I loose pieces. Years ago Larry made a large cardboard board that a 2,000 piece puzzle can be assembled on. I can put the board either on the dining room table or card table and work on the puzzle. I use the card table to assemble the puzzle while I watch television. When we dance or I workout I move the puzzle to the other room and take down the table. The board makes it easy to move the puzzle. It's a big board but sometimes the pieces will slide off. I'm very excited about finding the two pieces.

The board is 30" X 48" and puzzle is 26 3/4" X 39"

After the last dance we watched YouTube videos on different Amazon devices and other tech YouTube videos. After Larry went to bed I watched Mary Poppins Returns and Ice Age: The Meltdown from our collection of movies. I ended up doing 3,500 steps.

We finished our Christmas snacks from Shirley. We munched on them all day. Thank you Shirley. The snacks were very good.
