Just hanging out
When we went to bed last night it was still a little warm inside the Minnie, the thermostat read 68. We started with just a sheet and a lite blanket. Once it cooled off we were under the quilt. When Larry woke up it was 55 degrees. He turned on the heater to warm things up. I rolled out of bed at 7:30 and turned on the oven to bake some cinnamon french toast for breakfast. The oven also warms things up. It was already 68 in the Minnie.
After breakfast we decided to hike the old road, which is actually Trail #103. We started from the campground and walked to the gate of the trail. The road took us to a fenced in area where we turned left. The road kind of disappeared but the trail was still there. We hiked up and down small hills. We walked by some trees that were dead due to a forest fire. We continued on down the trail. It took us to a canyon that was surrounded by pine and juniper trees. We started in a desert scene and then went to a forest scene. When we got to the canyon we could hear water flowing, quite a ways below us in a canyon was a mountain stream within a heavily forested area. We just there and looked at the scenery, it was beautiful. The trail may have continued to the bottom of the canyon but it looked more like a water runoff trail. We like to hike but once we are on the bottom we have to climb back up. It looked like it was a long way down. During the hike we stopped occasionally to look at the surrounding area. By the time we got back to the Minnie we had hiked 3 miles.

We tried a new soup for lunch, Progresso Spicy Jambalaya. It was very spicy. We like spicy foods but it was too spicy. I ate it but it was too spicy for me to enjoy.
We spent the rest of the day reading. I finished a book yesterday called A Harvest of Secrets by Roland Merullo. It took place during the Nazi invasion of Italy in WWII. It was very good. Today i started a new one called Smile at Heaven, which is the 6th book of The Laramie Series by Karen J. Hasley. It takes place in Wyoming and tomorrow we will travel through part of Wyoming.
I barbecued hamburgers for dinner.
After it cooled down a bit I walked around the campground for an hour to get some of my steps. I ended up doing 26,000 steps, which put me in 4th place in my group.
We had another perfect weather day, beautiful sunshine and temperatures in the 70's.
