Saturday 1-19 Adam Pope & The Rebel Roots

Hold on Piglet

Today was really windy. At times it was so strong you had to hold on to the door of the car otherwise the wind would slam the door open or closed. The wind was out of the North so it felt cool even though it got to 68 and the sun was shinning.

We started the day off by going to the get together. There was a lot of people there, almost a full house.

Then we went to town. The other day we bought a heater from Walmart and it started making a rattling noise so we took it back and exchanged it. That was easy. While we were there we picked up replacement filters for our kitchen water filer.

After exchanging the heater we drove around McAllen. We have been driving past a couple of bakeries on the way to some dances but never stopped. Even though we seldom go to a bakery we really like them. We stopped at the Paris Bakery, it is not a fancy bakery but it had pastries, rolls, donuts and breads. They bake items fresh all day. We shared a cinnamon roll and a cream cheese roll. They were delicious.

We spent the afternoon relaxing with a book.

In the evening we went to Dream Valley Ranch RV Park to see Adam Pope and the Rebel Roots. The calendar in the newspaper and on the internet said it started at 6:00. We showed up a little before 6:00, the group was setting up and was under the impression the show didn't start until 7:00. There had been a problem and some promotional items showed a start time of 7:00. A lot of people were there just like us. Adam felt bad and apologized for the mix up, he decided to perform some songs between 6 and 7 that were not in his show list. We ended up listening to him from 6:00 to 9:00. By the time the actual show started at 7 there were over 70 people there. Adam Pope and the Rebel Roots did an excellent job. They sang Country/ Gospel/ bluegrass/rockabilly. Adam had a lot of energy. At intermission we had a choose of Klondike bars or ice cream cones. We had the Klondike bars. We had a great time.
