Monday 1-7 Ham & Beans Dinner

Hot humid day

Today it got into the low 80s and partly cloudy. There was a little breeze.

We started the day out by going to Pharr South to dance plus to Darryl Lipscomb. We had five squares. We had fun dancing with lots of people we knew.

After lunch we went to Tropical Valley Acres, it is located a couple blocks away from the Peppermint Palace. This was the first time we have been to this hall. It was setup different than most halls, the stage sits at an angle to the room. Since we dance in squares this can be a bit confusing, Bronc designated which walls would be the head walls and we danced to that. This was an A Dance/Workshop. We had four squares. It was mainly a workshop on Trail Off and Mini Busy. Bronc did a great job of explaining the two moves in different positions. We had a good afternoon of dancing.

At 5:00 we went over to the club house at J-Five to participate in the Ham & Beans Dinner. They had pinto beans and ham in a big pot, it was like ham hock and beans. They served corn bread and chocolate cake with either chocolate or vanilla icing. They also had tea or water for the drinks. It was a very nice gathering with a lot of people attending.

Last night I finished reading the first book of a series and started on the fourth book. We had a very relaxing evening.
