Thursday 2-1 Doing Projects

First Day of February

Today was the first day of February. It's the second month on the calendar and its the shortest.

We woke up to 54 degrees and no wind but the wind didn't stay away, after lunch it was back. We started the day off with a walk to Temple Lake Park, our return route took us on the old road by Lake Belton, up the boat ramp to Arrowhead Point Road and back home. There was no wind so the lake was flat. We saw a couple of fishermen. A couple of years ago Temple Lake Park flooded, when the water went down there was extensive damage to the restrooms. Lake Belton is a Corp of Engineers lake and it takes time to get funding for projects. They finally got funding last year and started the project of rebuilding the restrooms. They tore down two of the restrooms and left the debris where the restrooms were. It took forever to get the debris removed. The last time we did this walk they had removed the debris and put down dirt for the new foundations. Today when we walked by the restrooms they were rebuilt. We couldn't go inside because they were closed for the season and won't be open until March 1. The restroom by the beach use to have showers but it appears the new one does not. The old buildings were built out of wood but the new ones are concrete and bricks.  They did an excellent job of building them. As we walked we said hi to two ladies and saw a few deer grazing. This was the first time we have seen deer on this walk. They didn't seem to be scared of us. When we got close they just walked off the road and watched us walk by. They didn't seem to have a care in the world. We had a pleasant walk.

When we returned to the house Larry worked on a few projects, he put bleach in the septic system, blew leaves off the porch and the garage and backed up the computer to the cloud. He also changed the water filter and the heater/air conditioner filter. We have air filters throughout the house and occasionally the filters need to be replaced or cleaned so he took care of them today. The other night when we were watching a dvd the sub woofer vibrated one of our Kachinas off its stand. When it fell it broke its legs so Larry started in on repairing the Kachina.

While Larry was doing his projects I finished assembling my jigsaw puzzle, Murder at the Museum. I assembled it a little different than I usually do. As usual I started by putting the frame together but when I was part way done I couldn't figure out what pieces were the frame and what pieces were the rest of the puzzle. I moved on to assembling the puzzle and everything started to fall in place. It took me a week to do the puzzle. It was very challenging and I had fun doing it. It came with a small murder mystery book but I haven't figured out the whodunit yet.

After finishing the puzzle I did some housework. I hadn't vacuumed the house since I have been home so I did that and I cleaned the bathrooms and dusted.

In the evening we went to Sun City to dance "A" with the Sundancers. Patricia wasn't feeling well but Larry wanted to go so he came to the house to go with us. We had two squares and Dan ran the computer. Everyone was happy to see us considering we hadn't danced with them for six weeks. We had a super time.
