Having Fun
We woke up to a brisk 38 degree day. The wind had subsided and the sun was shining.
Before leaving Cape Girardeau we made a few stops. We began by going to the Missouri Nature Center. It had a lot of displays on the wildlife in the area. One display was of a snake that had two heads. After walking around looking at the displays and picking up some information on the different Nature Centers in Missouri we walked a half mile trail. We were surprised that the trail was so steep. It was a beautiful hike through trees and over a few bridges. Next we headed downtown where we drove around and looked at the murals on their river wall, they weren’t as impressive as others we have seen but they were still very nice. Next we drove to a park by the university to get a better look at the Bill Emerson Bridge, this is the bridge that takes you over the Mississippi River. While there we walked around the park. It was a very nice park. .

We spent the afternoon having fun in Chester, Illinois. Chester is the birthplace of Popeye the sailor man. There were statues of characters from Popeye all over town. First we stopped at the Popeye Museum where we walked around looking at the collectables. While there they gave us a map of the Popeye Character Trail, it shows you where all twelve of the statues are located. Each statue has a plague that tells you the character's name and a little background about it. We found all of them and had a lot of fun doing so. After locating all the statues we left Chester and went down the road 40 miles to a Walmart. Then we called it a day.
