Wednesday 8-17 Birthdays Celebration

Happy 65th Birthday Louise

We had a super day celebrating birthdays. I believe today was our hottest day of the year, It got up to 106 degrees.

Most years we start our fall camping trip during the last week of August so we celebrate Louise, Larry and my birthdays before we leave.

Louise's 65th birthday was today so we went to Round Rock to celebrate. While there we celebrated Larry's birthday which is later this month and mine is in September. We arrived around 9:30. Louise and her dog, Alice were waiting in the frontyard for us. When Alice saw us she came running to say hi. This was a pleasant surprise. Louise left around 10:30 to take Alice to get trimmed. When Louise got back we had lunch, Louise had bought a Papa Murphys Pizza, we provided onion rings and a crumb cake for dessert that I made last night. I cooked the pizza and onion rings in the oven, they came out very good. After lunch we opened our gifts. We received wonderful gifts. Thank you Louise for the snacks and gift cards and Shirley for the gifts cards and goodies. After opening our gifts we were ready for cake. I put a couple of candles on the cake, one 6 and one 5. I lit them but the ceiling fan blew them out. Along with the cake we had Rocky Road ice cream. We had a outstanding birthday celebration at Louise's.

Tuesday 8-16 Crafting, Gaming and Dancing

We had a beautiful day with a lot of sunshine. It got up to 100 degrees.

We started the day out by going to town. Yesterday, we received an e-mail from the UPS Store, that said we had a package. The package was from Shirley, it was our birthday gifts and fudge and Rice Krispy treats. After picking up our mail we went across the street to HEB to do a little grocery shopping. Then we went home.

Larry spent the day crafting.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong and Event: World Tour Mini of 10 games. It took me 23 minutes and 59 seconds, which put me in 4th place in my group. Then I played Angry Birds. I also worked on my annual book.

I attended Di Green and Terry McCann's Weekly A2 dance at 2:30 for an hour. Di and Terry took turns calling five tips with 12 participants. The only couple dancing was Di and Terry. Terry surprised us by calling a full square sequence. He usually only calls two couple sequences. I had a great time dancing to Di and Terry and with friends.

We watched YouTube videos.

He worked on Shoot & Little and Scoot & Plenty during the C1 tips. We didn't have any couples to pin tonight so it was a little more challenging to see where to be. Saturday 8-13 Crafting and Playing Games

Just having fun

Yesterday Dreaming Tree released a new fall paper crafting bundle. Larry really liked it so this morning he started working on it. Before he started cutting the pieces he reduced the size and then had to do a bit of redesign to enlargen some of the holes that were now too small. Then he decided on the colors and patterns of paper he wanted to use. Next he cut the pieces. Now he is ready to assemble the project.

While Larry did his crafting I played games. Before going to bed last night I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. I played a few games of Sudoku. Then moved onto the Event: Klondike Adventure of 20 games. It took me 1 hour, 11 minutes and 16 seconds, which put me in 10th place in my group. I spent the afternoon playing Angry Birds.

The other day when we were at Aldi we picked up a Mama Cozzi Biscuit Crust Uncured Bacon, Bacon Pepper & Onion Breakfast Pizza. I cooked it for dinner and it was good.

In the evening we watched Bourne Identity on dvd. Then we watched an episode of Doc Martin. After Larry went to bed I watched the second movie of National Treasure Book of Secrets. Then I watched an episode of Bergerac. I ended up doing 27,500 steps, which put me in 4th place in my group.

Friday 8-12 Back From Tahiti Dance

Doing the happy dance

We had a super Friday.

Yesterday, a crew came to tear down the old mailbox. First they completely tore down the old mailbox and loaded the old brick into a trailer. Next they removed the slab, that the old mailbox was sitting on. Then they cut boards for a form for the new slab. The mixed up the concrete and poured the concrete for the new slab.

This morning the crew returned to finish the job. First they unload the new brick they were going to use. Next they made the mortar. Then they started to build the new mailbox. Before putting the mailbox on the brick, they filled the cavity. Once they put the mailbox in they put brick around it. Last they made a top for it. They first had to cut a piece of slab to fit the top. The gentleman who cut the piece to size had the other gentleman help him lift the piece on top. The crew did an excellent job.

While the crew worked on the mailbox I played games. I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong and Event: Easy Street Mini of 15 games. It took me 31 minutes and 59 seconds, which put me in 8th place in my group. I did a couple of games of Sudoku. I spent the afternoon playing Angry Birds.

Larry did some crafting and read.

After lunch we went to town to the UPS Store to pick up our mail and a package, that was waiting for us. I wrote about a week ago that Larry upgraded our cell phone. He had been waiting for a box from Google so he could ship the old phone to them as part of the deal. That was the package that was waiting for us. We also had a pleasant gift waiting for us from my niece Ashley and Chase. It was a bandana Ashley had designed for the radio station she and Chase work at. It's very nice.

I attended Ett McAtee's Weekly A2 dance. She had been gone for three weeks because she took a trip to Tahiti. She had a super time. She called four tips and had 20 participants. She worked on moves that the dancers asked her to. I had a great time dancing to Ett and with friends. The virtual background Ett used was the huts she and her partner Linda stayed in while in Tahiti.

After the dance we started to watch a new series on PBS called A League of Their Own. It had a great review but I wasn't impressed. The language was very bad and far fetched considering it was suppose to be taking place during 1943. The actual movie was a lot better. We watched one episode only. Then we watched a couple of episodes of Doc Martin. When Larry went to bed I watched our dvd National Treasure. It's an old movie but is still good. I watched an episode of Bergerac.  I ended up doing 27,000 steps, which put me in 3rd place in my group.

Thursday 8-11 Just Another Day

Smile and be happy

We started the day off by going to town. We stopped by Walmart and picked up a few items, then it was on to Dollar Tree and from there to Aldi's.

Thursdays we usually have a virtual dance with Dayle at 11 but he had to work so it was cancelled. The evening dance with the Sundancers tape group was cancelled because we didn't have enough people for a square. So no dancing today.

When they were clearing the lot to build the neighbors house one of the subs was using a bobcat to move a tree and he hit our mailbox knocking it over. When we were building the house Larry had the bricklayers build us one of those large brick mailboxes and the surprising thing was it didn't break apart, it simply fell over. They were able to use the bobcat and some straps to sit it back upright but it was crooked and had some damage. The sub and our neighbor said they would have it fixed/replaced. It still worked fine. Larry did remind the neighbor about it a couple of times. Yesterday they were talking and the neighbor said he would get it done. Today a crew showed up, they tore down and removed all the bricks and poured a new slab. Tomorrow they are suppose to build the new one.

I played games. I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong and the Event: Hard Road Mini of 5 games. It took me 39 minutes and 36 seconds to complete, which put me in 21st place in my group. I played Angry Birds.

After playing games I worked on my annual book.

While I played games Larry read.

In the evening we watched a movie on Amazon called The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. It was about seven British retirees who go to an India luxurious hotel and finds out that its not what it was advertised. It was a very good movie and was loaded with great stars: Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Maggie Smith, Tom Wilkinson, Penelope Wilton, Celia Imrie and many more. It was a comedy-drama. Then we watched an episode of Doc Martin. Then I watched Moulin Rouge on dvd. It is a musical love story. It was a good movie. I watched an episode of Bergerac. I ended up doing 27,500 steps, which put me in 2nd place in my group.
