Tuesday 8-6 Thank You Gift

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise

After breakfast we went to the storage center and took The Minnie for her monthly drive, this helps keep everything working and the battery charged. We drove it a little farther today and filled it with gas. Next was doing our weekly grocery shopping at HEB. Afterwards we went across the street to the UPS Store to pick up our mail and packages. We then swung by the Dollar Tree.

Weekly grocery shopping

In today's mail was a surprise gift from Amazon. They said that to thank us for using Alexa to shop with them on Prime Day they wanted to send us some flowers. The card was very cute and Inside was a package of flower seeds. The card also included ways that Alexa could help you. Alexa can build a shopping list, we use this all the time. Alexa can recommend items based on customer reviews and rating. Alexa can track your packages and restock your everyday essentials.

Thank you gift from Alexa

From a special Seeds Program selection we received a couple of Halloween decorations, one was a 4ft LED Dragon and the other one was a 12ft LED Pumpkin Reaper. Both of them are indoor/outdoor self-inflated decorations. They are very cute.

In the evening we watched The Conspirator, it's a 2010 American mystery historic drama about Abraham Lincoln's assassination. It was very good. Then we watched an episode of The Good Karma Hospital. Then I watched a 1999 British mini series thriller on Acorn called Seesaw. It starred David Suchet and Geraldine James. It was about a working class family and what they went through when their teen age girl was abducted.

Monday 8-5 Boating and Dancing

Having fun on the lake

We had a super day. It got up to 100 degrees and a light breeze.

The wind was down so we decided it was time to go to the lake. We got the boat ready and off to the lake we went. The lake wasn't as smooth as it was the last time but it wasn't that rough. We didn't water ski but we did do a set of wake boarding. It took me three times to get up but it ended up being a great ride. After wake boarding we just relaxed in the boat. We were in and out of the lake within an hour. We had a super time.

We spent the rest of the day reading.

In the evening we went to Sun City to dance with the Sundancers. The first hour was a class review and we had three squares. For the Grand March we had four squares and a few people sitting out. When Brad was looking at the squares he noticed that everyone could dance plus so he called plus tips all night long. One of the tips Brad had us move from one square to the next, we had a great time. We only had three couples that dance A so we didn't have an A tip. We had an outstanding evening of dancing with friends and to Brad.

Reading is fun

We we got home we watched an episode of The Good Karma Hospital. Once Larry went to bed I finished watching Suits. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!

Sunday 8-4 Muggy Day

A muggy day

Today started off with rain and the clouds stayed around for much of the day. It got to 90 degrees and was very muggy. We spent the day in the house under the air conditioner.

We watched a couple episodes of the GizWiz and some YouTube videos. Larry and I both finished reading a book and started a new one. These days we read on our Kindles, they're so convenient for reading, you browse through your e-books, choose the one you want and off you go. If you doze off you never loose your place. You can choose a font as large or small as you like. If there is a word you don't know you simply press on the word and the definition pops up. When we travel we don't have to find a place to store all those books, they're all on the Kindle. Larry's Kindle is an older black model while mine is newer and white, makes it easy to identify which one is which. Kindle's had been around for years and Larry kept saying he preferred real books. He purchased a Kindle on sale and at first only used it when we traveled but now we seldom read a real book.

I did laundry while relaxing with a book. Larry started working on the Seeds Program reviewing four different Shark Bite products 1/2" Elbow, 1/2" Straight Coupling, 1/2" Shut Off Ball Valve and 3/4" Straight Coupling.

In the evening we watched Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade. Then we watched an episode of The Good Karma Hospital. I watched a few episodes of Suits.

Saturday 8-3 Just Another Day

Just having fun

We hung around the house all day. It was overcast which kept the temperature down to the high 80s.

In the morning Larry fertilized the yards. Then he organized the extra pieces of boards and plywood leftover from the waterbed. He likes to keep wood left over from projects to use on other projects. He had to reorganize his stack so that the new pieces fit. While Larry was doing this I read.

In the afternoon Larry read while I worked on my Solitaire World Tour Event, which had 30 different challenges.

In the evening we watched Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Art. I also watched a few episodes of Suits.

Friday 8-2 Mike Seastrom Dance

Finishing Project

We started the day off by finishing up the bed project. Yesterday we tore the water bed down, we saved the frame and headboard. Today we used the old frame to build a stand for the headboard to sit on. Larry cut some pieces from the old frame to fit the size we needed to hold the head board. He also had to drill some holes to screw the pieces together. Once this was done we assembled the pieces and moved the stand into the master bedroom where we put the headboard on top of it. We then screwed a couple of brackets on the back of the head board to the frame. Now it's very stable. Next we moved the Sleep Number bed from the second bedroom to the master bedroom. Once we finished setting up the bed we can now sleep in our bedroom.

Finished

After the project was finished we relaxed and did a little reading.

Relax with a good book

In the evening we drove to Cedar Park to attend the Uncommon Squares dance. The club invited Mike Seastrom to call. The format for the dance was mainstream and plus for two hours, a half hour of plus and an A1 tip, altogether almost 3 hours. The dance started out with eight squares but most of the time there were six or seven squares. The A tip had two squares. One mainstream tip Larry danced with another lady because she needed a partner. Mike called a tip with his wife Lisa. They did a super job. Mike did an outstanding job of calling and everyone had a great time dancing to him.

Thursday 8-1 Projects and Dancing

Awesome Day

We started the day out by doing a couple of projects. A couple of months ago Larry received a Stream Labs Control Leak Detector from the Seeds Program, a few weeks after installing it he received an e-mail saying there was a recall. The company wanted him to return the unit and then they would ship a new one. He e-mailed them back explaining that the unit was installed and that if he removed it he would need to redo some plumbing and then have to redo it again when they shipped a replacement. He asked them to send the replacement first, he would then take out the old one, put in the new one and send the old one back. They agreed. It arrived yesterday so this morning Larry installed the new one. When he went to calibrate the unit it wouldn't calibrate. He called support and the lady had him try a few things and she did some things remotely, she also talked to the engineering folks, nothing worked. She suggested waiting until tomorrow to see if the system would fix itself.

We have been slept on the new Sleep Number bed for a couple of nights and are quite pleased with it so today we took our old water bed down. The first thing we had to do was drain the mattress, it took hours. When the water stopped siphoning there was still water in the mattress so we started the draining back up and forced more water out. We wanted to get as much water out as possible so we could lift the mattress out of the frame. We were successful in getting more water out of the mattress than we have in the past because I was able to get the mattress out of the frame by myself. Larry was busy talking to the support for the Stream Labs Control. I put the mattress on a small appliance dolly and pushed it into the garage. Larry carried it to the side of the house. Then he cut the mattress up to dry the inside out in order to put it in the garbage can. After removing the mattress Larry disassembled the frame. We carried all the frame pieces into the garage.

Later in the afternoon we read a little bit and studied Taminations.

In the evening we went to Sun City to dance C1 and A with the Sundancers. We had four couples for C1, enough for a square. For A we were shy one person to make two squares. We had a great evening of dancing.

When we got home we watched an episode of The Good Karma Hospital. Then I watched a few episode of Suits. We had an awesome day.

Wednesday 7-31 Last Day of July

Time to go boating

Today was the last day of July, at 4:00 it was 101 degrees at our house. Boy, I'm glad I have air conditioning.

On Wednesday's HEB comes out with a weekly sale insert in the paper, last week they had Coke products on sale. We like Coke Zero Orange Vanilla. When we went shopping last week they were out. Yesterday was the last day of the sale but we didn't feel like going to the store simply to find out they were still out of stock. Larry decided to try out HEB's online Curbside shopping. This was our first time using their online ordering, we discovered there is a 3% fee added to the price and if you want to pickup the products the same day it cost you an additional $5.00. If you pick the products up the next day it's free. After you put in your order the application ask you what time you want to pick up your order. Larry decided to pick it up this morning between 8:30 and 9:00.

Before going to town to pick up our order HEB texted us and told us they substituted one of the Coke Zero Orange Vanilla's with a Coke Zero, they offered to let us cancel the item or if we did nothing the substitution would take place. They also made picking up the order very easy by texting how to receive your order. You go to the side of the store where HEB Curbside is located, then you text your parking space number and an employee brings you your order. The young man that delivered our order was very friendly and helpful. He also gave us a free cookie. While it was interesting to use Curbside I doubt we will use it very often, we actually prefer to go into the store and wander up and down the aisles, many times we find something new or something that has an in-store only coupon, we also frequently purchase bagged salads and we like to see what they have and pick ones that sound good with the longest good by date. It must be a popular service, there were only three Curbside parking spots and two were already taken when we got there. None of us were there more than a few minutes.

While in town we swung by the UPS Store and picked up a few packages. They were products from the Seeds Program. It was weird because we were the only ones there, I guess because it was 8:30 in the morning.

When we got home there was no wind so we decided to go the lake. The lake was so smooth that you could do whatever you wanted. Due to the wind we have been flying the air-chair and surfing, we hadn't water-skied or wake-boarded this year. Out came the water-ski, it took me three tries to get up but Larry got right up. After resting a little bit out came the wake-board. Larry got right up, it took me five tries, I was beginning to think I forgot how. But once up it was a good set of wake-boarding. Then we swam a little. Because there was no wind I got the boat right on the trailer. Then we wiped the boat down and went home. We had great morning at the lake.

We haven't had any rain lately and the grass slowed down so we didn't have to mow this week.

Yesterday when we assembled the Sleep Number bed we did not install the legs on the base, we decided we needed the extra height so today we put them on. It was a small project and it's now easier to get in and out of bed.

In the evening we finished up Grantchester and a couple of Good Karma Hospital episodes. I continued watching Suits.
