Sparrowfoot Campground
We had a windy cloudy day, the low was 44 degrees in Springfield and a high of 66 at Sparrowfoot Campground. When the wind blew it was cool. At times the wind blew hard. By evening the wind was down.
Hold on Pooh
We slept with the Wave 3 heater on low all night. When we woke up it was very comfortable.
It was very quiet sleeping in Bass Pro Shops. There were a few other people who did the same. They were gone by 7:30. We were on the road by 8:00. We were very grateful, that Bass Pro Shops allow you to stay the night in their parking lot.
For breakfast I boiled some water and we had walnut, date and raisin oatmeal. After breakfast we put everything away including the Wave 3. We made sure everything was secure. Then we said good-bye to Bass Pro Shops.
Our next destination was Sparrowfoot Campground. It is located on Harry S. Truman Lake, which is run by the U.S. Corps of Engineer. The campground is on the Grand River Arm of Harry S. Truman Lake. It has a lot of trees in the lake so you have to be careful. The facility has 83 campsites and 56 of them are 50-amp and 27 are 30-amp. It has a dump station, boat ramp, showers, drinking water, laundry facility and a playground. One restroom had running water and two restrooms are pit toilets. The campground has two loops, which were A and B.
Sparrowfoot Campgrounds was 90 miles from Bass Pro Shops. We were there by 10:15. The drive was on a divided highway. We found a site we wanted but when Larry went online to make a reservation the website said the campground was closed until Tuesday 4/15/25. Larry went to the restroom, where the hosts were working. The host said, that the campground has two months before and two months after the season where they don't take reservations. At the entrance gate there are envelopes to fill out and they take cash or check for your stay. It cost $10 per night or $5 if you have the senior pass. During this time the shower house is closed. They were working on cleaning it today to get it ready for Tuesday.
We found a site in the A Loop, which was A39. The site had water at the site, a fire ring, hook for your trash and 30amp power. The site in the B Loop you had to share the water. After backing in the site we walked down to the entrance booth to check-in. It was only .25 mile away. Then we walked back and had lunch.

I was glad we had power because I could catch up with my games from yesterday. I spent the afternoon doing just that. I played the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong from yesterday and today. Then I played the event for today called Event: Two Game Tango Mini of 6 games (3 Spider and 3 Free Cell). It took me 17 minutes and 41 seconds to complete, which put me in 13th place in my group. Then I moved onto playing Angry Birds.
While I played games Larry played with my new band. He's more excited about the new band than I am. He figured out not only how to use it but how to customize it, he even changed the watch face on the front, it now has a little boy on his father's shoulders encouraging him to do his steps. It's really cute. There are 100's of watch faces to choose from, some show lots more data than others. I like to have the time, date, battery level and my steps displayed. If I want to see the other data (things like heart rate and sleep) I can swipe to another screen.
My new fitness band
After playing with my new band Larry started a book and finished it by bedtime. I finished The Briar Club last night so I asked Larry to pick me another book. He picked How the Light Gets In by Joyce Maynard. I started reading it.
Relaxing with a book
After dinner I walked around for an hour and a half to get some steps. I wore both bands. My Garmin started to act up, it kept turning off and the screen went blank. The new one worked great. When I walked 1 mile it vibrated to let me know I did 1 mile. It did it at mile #2 and #3. It also let notified me when I met my step goal of 12,000 steps. The Garmin also did this but it didn't vibrate. By the time I finished my walk I had walked 3 miles. I ended up doing 12,335 steps today.
I decided to just wear the new band. I liked the Garmin but I think I wore the button out, it's time to move on. The new one is great. It has a lot of options to pick for workouts. It tracks the calories I burn, heart rate, miles, steps and more. I no longer need to use the my fitness pal program because I can enter my food intake on the app for the new band. I do have to watch the calories it enters, it is not always correct but I can adjust it. Maybe it will get better once I train it on the foods I eat. The food feature was only recently added so maybe it will get better. This feature use AI and you can either type in the information or use your voice. Pretty neat.
