Sunday 4-20-25 Happy Easter, Rainy Day

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to everyone.

We had another day of morning rain. We decided to stay at Mark Twain State Park another night to let the roads dry. The rain came in last night at 11:15 pm, it rained hard and steady for hours, it went away at 10:00 am and came back at 1:00 pm. It stayed around all day. It would rain a little bit then stop. The roads were too wet so we didn't go on a walk. The morning temperature was 51 degrees and it got up to 71 degrees.

Larry and I have been doing our adventures in our 21' Winnebago Minnie for almost 20 years. We bought the Minnie used back in 2006, it was 10 years old and needed some work so it took awhile before it was ready to go camping. We were still working jobs so on the weekends we did some adventures at the Texas State Parks. We traveled with our beloved lab Flo until she passed away in May of 2017. I can't believe it's been that long.

Larry retired back in 2009, since then we have tried to take two long trips each year, one in the fall for six to eight weeks and one in the spring for six to eight weeks. The fall trip starts at the end of August and goes into October. The spring trip starts after spring break, about the end of March and goes into May. The spring trip is usually six weeks it all depends on the weather. When it starts to get hot we head towards Texas.

We have camped in all the lower 48 states and four of the Canadian Provinces ( Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Ontario). Over the years we have visited all of the states west of the Mississippi at least twice, many of them far more times. We also visited some eastern states multiple times. We have camped in and seen a lot of wonderful sites, amazing National Parks and Forests and beautiful campgrounds.

We try to stay in campgrounds, that have hiking trails because we love to hike. Sometimes finding camping with hiking is difficult and since we don't use a tow vehicle we would have to put things down and unplug the Minnie to go hiking. A few years back Larry bought a small motorcycle so we have it with us. We have it on a carrier behind the Minnie. Some sites it's impossible to get off and other times it's not worth it.

When we travel in the spring, especially when we go east we can get rain. When this happens Larry will find a campground with power and we just wait it out. We relax with a good book. I play my computer games.

We love our Class C because we have everything we need in it. We have a bathroom, kitchen area with a microwave, oven, stove and two sinks, dinette, couch and bed above the cab. We are lucky that at our ages we can still climb up on the back of the dinette seat to go to bed. We like the dinette because we can store stuff under the seats. The Minnie is a perfect size, we can park it almost anywhere because it's only 21' with the carrier it may be 23'.

I did my Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event was Event: Two Game Tango of 20 games (10 Klondike and 10 Spider). It took me 1 hour, 44 minutes and 19 seconds, which put me in 10th place in my group. I also played Angry Birds.

Yesterday Larry started a new book, he finished it today. I asked him to choose me a new book, he had just finished Becoming Madam Secretary by Stephanie Dray. It's a historic fiction about an American heroine Frances Perkins. I started reading the book in the evening.

After dinner I was going to walk before the rain came. I started out and was 20 minutes into it when it started to sprinkle so I went in the Minnie. I made the right decision because a few minutes later it started to pour. The rain stayed around all night. I didn't get my step goal of 12,000 steps, I only did 2,000 steps. No biggie.

We had a great Easter of doing nothing.
