Friday 11-9 A Weekend Get Away

I'm so excited about going away for the weekend. Every year on this weekend Jerry Story has his Story Time weekend in Tool, Texas and we usually go but this year we decided to go to Ardmore, Oklahoma instead. For 30 years Jerry Stover and Darryl Lipscomb have been doing an Advanced Level Square Dancing Weekend with C1 Star tips at Lake Murray Lodge.

Last night I packed for our weekend get away. This morning we loaded up the car and headed toward Ardmore. Ardmore is about 240 miles from the house, we left town around 8:00 and ended up getting there at 12:30. It took us four and a half hours, not bad when it includes stopping for lunch and driving through Ft. Worth.  The drive was all interstate. We usually drive two lane highways because there's less traffic which causes less stress. Today we really didn't have much choice but to take the interstate.

We're staying at the Red Roof Inn in Ardmore, which is about 14 miles from Lake Murray Lodge. We arrived early, they let us check in and the room was ready. It's an old hotel and isn't fancy but it's a decent place to stay. The rooms have been remodeled and have a kitchenette. When they remodeled they forgot to leave room for a closet so you had lay your shirts and pants on chairs or fold them and place them in drawers. That was ok.

In the evening we attended the opening dance of the weekend. There were seven squares for the A tips and three squares for the C1 tip. In between the A tips Jerry played recordings of round dancing and songs for line dancing. There were about ten couples of round dancers. We had a great time dancing with friends from the Dallas/Fort Worth area and Lubbock and quite a few dancers we haven't danced with before, most from Oklahoma. Darryl and Jerry did a good job.
