Tuesday 11-6 Just Another Day

Just hanging around

We didn't even leave the house today. Larry spent much of the day reading and I worked on my annual book.

Relaxing with a good book

The lots behind us have been cleared for awhile. Today a crew showed up and worked on putting up the support boards for the foundation. There is a lot of rock in the area so they brought a rock saw to cut through the rock for the footers. The new neighbor is going to have a tall foundation, the farther back you go on the lot the more of a slope there is. When we built our house we had the same problem and our foundation in the back is over five feet tall.

In the evening we finished the sixth season of Doc Martin. I finished watching the second season of Murder In Suburbia.

Monday 11-5 Change of Location for Dance

We woke up to a foggy morning. The fog lifted about 10:00 and the sun came out in the afternoon. By 5:00 the temperature was a pleasant 80 degrees.

We started the day out by going to town for Larry's dentist appointment. The appointment was to take an impression for a crown on his implant. The dentist was removing the healing cap from the implant when the implant came out, the implant failed a second time. Now he has to start all over again with the implant procedure. The dentist used a different bone grafting material and will use a different implant. Larry has to wait a few months and come back for the implant to be installed.

Our friend Jeanne Blackwell had recommended we read the book The Boys in the Boat so after Larry's appointment we swung by the Temple Library. He found a few copies of the book: a hardback, a paperback, a large print book and even a book on CD. We checked out the large print copy.

In the afternoon I worked on my annual book.

After dinner we went to Sun City to dance with the Sundancers. Usually, we dance in the ballroom but this week the location changed to Cowan Creek. The room in Cowan Creek is a lot smaller, if you have more than ten squares it can be tight fit. Today there were six squares for the first tip and then ended up with four squares. Brad did a super job of making the dance fun and challenging. We had enough people for an A tip. There were six couples and an extra person so the dancers tapped in. The tip was very good.

Sunday 11-4 Tuning Up the Minnie

Beautiful Autumn Day

A front came through during the night with thunder, lightening and rain. By morning the sun came out and it became a beautiful autumn day.

It is time to tune up the Minnie. The other day Larry ordered the parts from Rock Auto. The first thing he did was remove the engine cover. Then he replaced the spark plugs, rotor and distributor cap. Before replacing the distributor cap he numbered the connectors with a number that corresponded with the wire that he removed. Each wire goes to a specific spark plug. He also marked the wires with the number that is on the cap. He removed the wires one at a time and put the new wire in place of the old wire. It's very important to make sure the wires go on the cap correctly to make sure the vehicle will run correctly. After the tune up was finished he replaced the air filter, breather filter and PCV valve. Next he replaced the fuel filter, this required him crawling under the Minnie and using a special tool to get the old one off.

While Larry was tuning up the Minnie I cleaned the interior. I vacuumed it, wiped everything down and washed the floors.

We're not going to use the Minnie for a bit and we're all caught up on the maintenance so we took it to storage.

In the afternoon I worked on my annual book for this year.

In the evening we relaxed in front of the television. We started watching the sixth season of Doc Martin off of Acorn. We watched four episodes. When Larry went to bed I started re-watching the first season of Murder In Suburbia, I ended up watching three episodes.

Saturday 11-3 Visiting Louise

Gorgeous Day

We woke up to a gorgeous day of sunshine and a breeze. The wind stayed around all day.

Louise e-mailed Larry the other day letting him know that her waterbed mattress, mattress cover and liner came in. This morning on our way to Round Rock we stopped at Rudy's for a breakfast taco, we love their breakfast tacos but there are no Rudy's anywhere near us, it has been years since we have been to one. The first thing we did at Louise's was remove her old waterbed mattress. It was a semi-waveless mattress and there was so much water trapped inside the filler we could not lift it. We had to force more water out by folding it up and pressing it down with our knees. Once we got all the water out that we could we were able to roll it out of the frame and Larry dragged it out to Louise's front yard. Then Larry cut the mattress open and removed the filler. Larry was surprised that it came out in one piece because when we replaced our waterbed mattress our filler came out in a million pieces. Once the filler was out Louise spread it out so it could dry. When it is dry she will be able to throw it away in her trash receptacle. Next Larry and I removed the old liner and installed the new one, then we installed the new heater, after that we spread the new mattress evenly on the liner. Larry connected a garden hose to the bathroom sink and started filling the waterbed with warm water. As the waterbed was filling we made sure that it was evenly spread out. Once the mattress was full Louise and Larry put the new mattress pad on the bed. Now Louise can sleep in her waterbed once again.

After doing the waterbed project we had lunch. Louise had bought a Papa Murphy's pepperoni pizza. For our dessert we had Halloween leftover Halloween candy. Louise didn't have anyone come by on Halloween night. We had another great visit with Louise and Alice.

When it was time for dinner I made potato empanadas. The other day we watched a YouTube video on making Puff Pastry Potato Pockets. They were fried in oil, I thought I would try making them into Empanadas using the Puff Pastry Sheet we have leftover and bake them. They tasted kind of bland so I won't make them again.

In the evening we relaxed in front of the television and watched an Amazon Original Series called Homecoming. We watched the whole season. It starred Julia Roberts and Bobby Cannavale. It was very good.  Then I finished watching No Offense. I really like the series but it would have been a lot better without the bad language. We had a very nice day.

Friday 11-2 Another Beautiful Day

Doing this and that

Larry worked on reviewing a couple of more items from the Seeds Program. The first was a Klein USB Tester. The second was the Stream Labs Water Meter, this item measures how much water goes through your house, it works with PEX or copper pipes. We had to make a trip to The Home Depot to get a piece of pipe.

While we were in town we stopped by Dollar Tree and Advance Auto Parts to pick up a gallon of Sea Foam Larry had ordered online.

When we got home Larry worked on his reviews while I worked out on my Wii Fit. I hadn't been on the Wii for 80 days so tomorrow I'll probably be sore. I worked out with Gold Gym for a half hour, Just Dance for a half hour and Wii Fit for a half hour.

Yesterday, when we went grocery shopping we picked up a box of Puff Pastry so this evening I made some cinnamon rolls. They didn't come out like the YouTube videos we watched but they tasted good.

In the evening we watched an episode of Midsomer Murders on Acorn. I finished the first season of No Offense and started the second season. We had a very nice day.

Thursday 11-1 Doing Weekly Chores

Lake Belton

We had another cool windy day. We've had so much rain that Lake Belton is fourteen feet over full. Since we have been home they have been been letting a lot of water thru the gate and the lake is still fourteen feet over full.

Yesterday when Larry was assembling the fittings on the water heater he used plumbing tape to seal them. He checked for leaks and he found a couple really small leaks. He tightened the connectors a little more and waited over night. This morning the connectors had seeped a little so he took them apart and replaced the tape with pipe dope. He reassembled and tightened the connectors again and checked for leaks. He found no leaks.

After breakfast we went to town to do a few errands. The first stop was the UPS Store to pick up our mail and a package that was waiting for us. We then went to Ace Hardware for a drain piece we needed, they had the piece but it was almost twice the price of Home Depot. Before going to the Home Depot we stopped by HEB to do our weekly shopping. After doing our errands we went back to the house.

In the afternoon I did my weekly housework, which was cleaning and vacuuming the house.

Weekly Chores

Larry and Patrica came by the house around 5:00 to ride with us to Sun City for the Sundancers Thursday A dancing. We had two squares and three extra couples. We hadn't danced on Thursdays in over two months. Everyone was happy to see us and gave us a great welcome back. We had a super time. The last tape was called by Tony Oxendine, it was outstanding, very fun and very challenging.

Wednesday 10-31 Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween. We had a nice cool day with pouring rain in the late afternoon.

Yesterday, when we were in town we picked up candy for Halloween. We discussed how much candy to get, last year we only had a couple of children so we ended up only buying one small bag of Butter-fingers. It worked out great considering we had no children this year. I guess children don't go door to door anymore instead they go to a designated area where they go car to car and get treats. The local malls also hand out candy.

Today Larry did a couple of home projects. The first one was installing the new water heater in the kitchen. First he installed an electrical box to plug it into. Then he plumbed the heater into the kitchen faucet and dishwasher. One of the hoses was too short. Yesterday we tried to pickup all the parts we needed but we were certain we would need something else. We went to the Home Depot to purchase a longer hose and another electrical box for the next project. While there we also picked up a digital tire gauge, they had a huge display of them for Black Friday.

When we got home Larry finished installing of the water heater. Then he started on the second project which was replacing the septic system compressor. First, thing he did was install the electrical box and then he installed the new compressor.

In the evening we relaxed in front of the television. We watched YouTube videos and watched an episode of Midsomer Murders from Season 13 on Acorn. I watched a couple more episodes of No Offence on Acorn. I also finished assembling my puzzle.
