Monday 8-25-25 Hiking, Camping & Rain

Camping at Matchless Campground

We woke up to a cool morning with the temperature of 51 degrees, our high was 66. We had a rain front come in at 10:00 am. It rained hard and steady for an hour and a half. It was overcast most of the day.

There was enough sun, that Larry put out the solar panels.

Larry woke up at 6:00 and decided to sleep a little longer he wasn't in any hurry to get up. He slept in until 6:15. I got up at 6:20 because I had slept long enough. I had gone to bed at 8:45 last night. I got up and made pancakes for breakfast. When I got up Larry was taping up his feet so he wouldn't get blisters.

After breakfast we got ready to go for a hike. We left on the hike at 7:45 and got back by 10:00. We hiked for four miles on the Turquoise Lake Trail. It was an out and back hike. While hiking we saw a standup paddle boarder, a few kayaks getting ready to go in the lake, people sitting on chairs fishing and dogs enjoying the lake. On the trail we met a gentleman walking his dogs and a couple of runners running the trail. When we were coming back on the trail we met a couple just starting their hike. The lake was very flat. We hiked by a few campgrounds, one was first come first serve the others are reservation only. While hiking we hiked by a memorial for a beloved pet. It was very well maintained with flowers, balls, sticks and a picture of the dog. We saw a salamander, which was walking on the trail. We made sure we didn't step on it. We had a super hike. When we got back to the Minnie it started to rain.

After relaxing for about an hour we had Campbell's Cheesy Jalapeno Burger soup for lunch. Then we spent the afternoon relaxing. I took a two hour nap. Larry worked on the switch for the refrigerator that had quit working, he hoped he could get it working but was unsuccessful. He will have to wait until we get home to replace it. Then he sat outside and read. He read until it started to sprinkle.

For dinner we barbecued hamburgers. After dinner we walked around for 35 minutes and did 1.5 miles. We walked to the other campground above us like yesterday. Today we decided to walk the second loop first. While walking the loop it started to rain so we shorten our walk. By the time we got back it was raining harder. When it slowed down Larry brought in the solar panels.

We spent the evening reading. Larry finished his book. I started a book last night and continued reading it. The book is My Name Is Yip by Paddy Crewe. So far It's a good book. The writing is great.

I also played my Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event was Event: World Tour Mini of 10 games. It took me 45 minutes and 43 seconds, which put me in 16th place in my group.

By the end of the day I had done 17,500 steps.
