Wednesday 4-3 New Stuff

We started the day out by going for an hour walk on the Pepper Creek Trail in Temple. It was a beautiful cool morning so it was perfect for getting some exercise. As we were walking the trail we saw a large field of wildflowers. We met a lady walking her dog, Larry commented on the cool large round leash she was using, she said she had arthritis in her hands and the leash made it easier to walk her dog. We also saw a few people walking the trail and a bicyclist. It was a very pleasant hike.

Larry got our insurance quote back from the local Progressive agent, we kept all the same coverages and ended up saving about $1000 a year so we switched everything over.

For Christmas we bought Louise an Amazon Echo Show, we did not have one ourselves and we really liked it. We do have an Amazon Fire Tablet, it does most of what an Echo Show does, works great in the kitchen for timers and recipes. The model we bought Louise has been discontinued but the other day some showed up on sale. Now we have one for ourselves. Larry installed it on the desk, it fits perfect and looks great. Now when we are at the desk we can listen to music and see the lyrics on the screen. If you ask for the spelling of a word it spells it and displays it on the screen, helps me write this blog.

We also got a Smart Wi-Fi Garage Opener. After getting the Show up and working we moved on to installing the Smart Garage Opener. First Larry read the directions on how to install the device. Then he decided where he was going to put the device on our garage door opener. Next, he wired the device to the opener. Then, he installed the magnets on the garage door. Before he strung the wire he made sure that the device worked with our door. It worked perfect. He strung the wire from the door opener to the garage door. Once the device was installed he programmed it to work with Alexa. Now we can open and close our double garage door remotely through Alexa or we can ask if the door is closed and she will tell us.

We saved some money on insurance but spent some on home automation. Larry loves playing with the home automation stuff, he admits it is not necessary but it it makes a great hobby.

We had a great day playing with our new Echo Show and new Smart Wi-Fi Garage Opener.
