Wednesday 1-16 Learning Something New and Change of Plans

Learning something new

When we woke up this morning it was raining. It was supposed to be gone at 2:00 in the morning but it didn't leave until about noon.

We started the day out by going to the get together at J-5. They announced the different activities that are going on in the park and then an officer from the Border Patrol gave a presentation on the different things the Border Patrol does. We had to leave early because of our morning dance.

We danced three times today. The first dance was at 10:00 at Pharr South, which was an A2 Dance with Darryl Lipscomb. We had nine squares. Karen Tripp decided she would do a couple of line dances and she asked another dancer, Jeanne to cue another line dance.

A couple of our ladies friends, Linda and Mary from Marble Falls arrived today. They're going to be here for 10 days. It was great to see them again. We had a great time dancing to Darryl and with friends.

This year three of the callers here in The Valley decided to give C1 Square Dance Lessons.  Darryl Lipscomb, Bronc Wise and Randy Dougherty are coordinating their lessons, this way they all teach from the same list and move the lessons quickly. Normally lessons to learn a new level of square dancing last anywhere from 6-9 months, they are going to teach C1 in less than 3 months. This is the second week of classes and each caller had two squares, mostly they are the same people. They wanted enough people to make it worth their time and the first week it looked iffy but now it looks like the classes are going to continue.

Our original plan was to stay in The Valley until about the end of January but it now appears we will be here until sometime in March. Wednesdays will be a long day because we will be dancing three times.

This morning at the end of the A2 dance Darryl did a C1 class level tip. This was super and it went very well.
