Sunday 9-30 Tahquamenon Falls

It's cold

This morning it was 37 degrees with a bit of sprinkling, very cold, the good news was the wind had gone down. By the end of the day it was still grey but about 50 degrees.

Today's drive was about 170 miles. We started by going to Tahquamenon State Park to look at the falls. There are two sets of falls,  the Upper and Lower. The Upper Falls are a dark, tannin-stained water falling over a 50 foot sandstone cliff. The Lower Falls were four miles downstream from the Upper Falls. The Lower Falls are smaller and people can touch the water from rented rowboats or kayaks. People can fish beneath the falls for small mouth bass. If you camp at the campground you can hike a four mile trail from the Lower Falls to the Upper Falls. You also take a shuttle bus from the campground. We drove to the parking lot of each set of falls. At each set of falls there is a park store and bathrooms. The Upper Falls are more dramatic. At the Upper Falls you can climb down 94 stairs for a closeup look, but even without going down the stairs you can see great views. We climbed down the stairs. By the time we were finished looking at the falls more people were arriving.

After having lunch in the Minnie we continued on to Sault Ste. Marie, which was our final destination for the day.We went to the Kewadin Casinos RV Park. The park is very nice, all of the sites are on a beautiful grassy area and have electric. The park has bathrooms with showers, a dump station, a free washer and dryer and a dog area. After parking the Minnie we walked to the hotel to pay for the night.

The casino is gorgeous. It has multiple rooms with slot machines and table games in each room. There are shops, a restaurant, a deli and snack bar. The decor was bright with paintings and a lot of color. There is an information desk and the customer service desk is in the center of the hallway of the gaming rooms. The hotel registration area is very nice and the workers are friendly. The whole casino and hotel were very impressive.

After checking in I signed up for the rewards program and received $5.00 on the card. After dinner I went over to the casino and gambled for a few hours. I only played in a couple of the rooms and made a little money. I had fun.
