3-4 We’re Home

Home Sweet Home

Our neighbor’s trees in bloom

What a gorgeous day!!! We woke up to a chilly morning but the sleeping was great. Larry got out of bed, dressed, fed Flo and took her for a walk. Flo was feeling better so they walked a little longer. When they got back to the campsite Flo didn’t want to come inside so Larry left her outside on her chain. I crawled out of bed a few minutes later and baked the rest of the sausage wraps for breakfast. After breakfast we put things away and got the Minnie ready to go home. As we were leaving Larry dumped the tanks and we got rid of our trash. When we got to the dump station we knew it was Spring in Texas, we saw our first Blue Bonnets of the season, in central Texas spring flowers along the roadways are looked forward to every year and the Blue Bonnets are the most treasured, they don’t hang around very long but if all the weather conditions were just right they are spectacular. We had to be careful leaving Jim Hogg Park, there was a big herd of deer on both sides of the road.

On the way home we stopped at The UPS Store to get our mail and a couple of packages. One of the packages was a tube to put wood pellets in to smoke your meat. Larry had ordered the tube before we went camping and he knew it was going to be there. After getting the mail Larry and I walked to Walmart, it is in the same shopping center as The UPS Store. We went there to get a bag of pellets, the pellets only came in a 20 pound bag so we now have a lot of pellets. We had a choice of Mesquite or apple, we decided to get the apple. When we got home we unloaded the Minnie and put things away and then I made lunch. After lunch I took a nap and Larry played with the pellets on the grill. When I woke up he had the pellets smoking away. He was one excited man. Now tomorrow we’re going to try smoking another brisket, this time using the pellets.
