2-6 Back to Daily Life

Doing Laundry
We got back to Belton about dinnertime yesterday so today was a day of doing laundry. I always take too many clothes on our trips and when we get back home I spend a day just doing laundry. While we were in the Rio Grande Valley it was normally warm and windy so we spent lots of time with the windows open and that meant a lot of dust got in the Minnie. Instead of going through and trying to figure out what we had and had not worn I just washed everything. I did take a break for a bit for lunch and then we went to town to get our mail. Including the bedding there was about six loads of laundry. While the clothes were washing I did dishes and worked out on the Wii Fit for a half hour and Just Dance for another half hour. While we were at Bit O Heaven Flo got use to going for multiple walks a day so she pestered us about going for a walk. I didn't feel like taking her but since we are at home we can just open the door and let her out, the only problem is she prefers someone going with her. Of course we had a few problems with her wandering off but that seems to be fixed since Larry is insisting we keep the invisible fence collar on her whenever she is outside.

Got To Be Watchful
Last month we got the insurance renewal on our house and noticed the premium had gone up about 20%. We had been getting a new home discount and we figured that had expired and since the total amount of the insurance was still less than we paid for many years we were not really concerned. Well today we got the car renewals, they made a big deal of pointing out that since we had no tickets or accidents we qualified for accident forgiveness, if we got in an accident our rates would not go up, what they did not point out was that the rate was going up about 20%. Time to shop around, Larry spent a large part of the day getting online quotes from other companies, looks like we might be switching companies.

In the evening we watched a couple more episodes of Ken Burns series The West. The fifth episode was The Grandest Enterprise Under God, which took place during the 1868 to 1874. This episode was about building the railroad, bringing cowboys up the cattle trail, giving women the right to vote in Utah and sending buffalo hunters onto the plains. The sixth episode was Fight No More Forever, which took place during 1874 to 1877. This episode was about when the federal government tightens its grip on the West but had to fight Sitting Bull, Brigham Young and Chief Joseph. They were both good episodes. We have three more episodes left to watch. I had a busy day doing laundry.
