10-10 Homeward Bound

Sweetwater

Pronghorns running a long side of the road

We woke up to blue skies and a little dew on the Minnie. We have seen what we wanted to see in New Mexico and we really didn’t want to go home because it was going to be in the mid to high 90s. If we had stayed in New Mexico and gone south it was going to be just as hot so we decided to go home. We straighten up the Minnie and then we started towards the house.

Larry drove 425 miles for ten hours. We were going to stop in Littlefield at Waylon Jennings RV Park but it was early so we continued down the road. When we got to Sweetwater we decided to call it a day. As we were driving from Manzano Mountains State Park in New Mexico to Sweetwater we saw some beautiful rolling hills and mountain ranges. We mainly saw plains with a lot of desert cactus and other plants. We were looking at the countryside when we saw pronghorns in the fields. They were everywhere and then all of a sudden we saw a buck and doe running alongside  the highway. They were trying to figure out how to get over the fence to join the rest of the herd, it looked like they were scared. They ran fast and then stopped at the fence, they finally found an opening in the fence and walked through it. Larry drove at a crawl so they wouldn’t get hurt if they ran in front of us. It was fascinating to watch them, they were very graceful. When we got to Sweetwater we were ready to call it day, it was a long day but tomorrow will be shorter. Life Is Good!!!!
