7-4 July 4th Celebration

Happy Fourth of July
Happy 4th of July!!!! We started our July 4th celebration last night with the Killeen Kickers at the Harker Heights United Methodist Church for their Patriotic Dance. The hall was decorated with red, white and blue items and gorgeous quilts. There were enough people there for three squares and a lot of delicious food. Betsy Nyhan called to patriotic songs and did a very good job. Christina Wiggins cued to round dancing and line dancing in between square dancing tips. When Christina did the line dances I danced with her and others. Some of the line dancing was to new songs and we all had a fun time learning the new steps. The dance was very informal and it seemed like everyone had a great time.

This morning Larry and I want to the Fourth of July Parade in Belton, it is one of the biggest parades in Texas. People from all over Texas comes to watch the parade. It was two hours long and had over 200 participants. This was the third parade we attended so knowing where to park and where we were going to sit to watch made it easy. We had a super time watching all the great floats go by.

We thought about going to the fireworks display at Miller Park in Temple, we drove by the park a couple hours early and saw there were thousands of people already there. We decided by the time we went back for the display it would be very crowded so we decided to stay home. We watched Indictment, The McMartin Trial, starring James Woods and Mercedes Ruehl. It was based on a true story about a family that ran a daycare, they were arrested on child abuse charges and their trail ended up being the longest and most expensive in American history. It was very good. After the movie we watched a little bit of the fireworks displays around the neighborhood and the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks on television. They all were spectacular. We had a fantastic Fourth of July.
